December's Gone

This is one I wrote back in 2014 about how the giving season seems to end after the holidays...be sure to always look out for others, no matter the season. The late Kent Bilbrey recorded his version of this song. If anyone is interested in giving this song some new life, let me know. :)

Cold rain falls downtown

Yet she wanders on

As it turns to snow

Linger till the dawn

The face was kind

Offered Christmas cheer

Now the empty street

Fills her full of fear

See, no one is there

When the nights are long

Who is going to care

December’s gone

A little doll sits

Near the angel tree

Wonders about the

Giving family

That gave her a smile

Inside these cold walls

Every heart needs love

When you feel so small

But no one is there

When nights are long

Who’s going to care

December’s gone

His tired, weathered hands

Waved down a semi truck

Driver drops him off

For a change of luck

Forgotten and lost

by the life he knew

The tours of duty

Had taken their due

But no one is there

When nights are long

Who’s going to care

December’s gone
