This is one that I wrote a few years ago about some of the things my Daddy taught me.
Little Brown Jug
Little brown jug
Growing wild by the tree
On a warm summer day
Daddy showed it to me
I learned about magical things
Though I was just a child
And one of my favorites
Was that ginger growing wild
We had fairies by the flowers
We had trolls behind trees
On warm summer evenings
Daddy showed them to me
He showed me ginseng
And he taught me my roots
That life may bear thorns
Like the blackberry fruit
He teaches me to shine
He taught me about the light
On warm summer mornings
After the darkest nights
He gathers up dandelions
And he turns them to wine
He shares his wisdom
Where the apricots vine
Little brown jug
Growing wild by the tree
On a warm summer day
Daddy showed it to me
I learned about magical things
Though I was just a child
And one of my favorites
Was that ginger growing wild
