His dark eyes are lost in the sunset
His mind is back in Cherokee
These waters are trying to threat
No longer on the banks of the Luftee
I was raised a son of a gun
No elders cared for me
He is from the mountain
And I was born of sea
These seasons on the sea
They salt the hungry soul
Like tears, they disagree
As the years take their toll
Hopeful words lie stationary
Yet somehow they save
Letters that hold the key
To the treasure I never gave
I tell him we are all at sea
No matter what’s beneath our souls
He smiles and looks away from me
I cannot fathom what’s below
These seasons on the sea
They salt the hungry soul
Like tears, they disagree
As the years take their toll
The seawater floods my eyes
The stormfall is like a henge
He looks to Great Thunder and cries
All of our regrets avenge
Where the waters greet the shore
And the clouds cape the creek
We are anchored evermore
To the treasures we fear to seek
These seasons on the sea
They salt the hungry soul
Like tears, they disagree
As the years take their toll
